Title: The Faith of Sarah
Text: Hebrews 11:11-12

11 By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised. 12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.

1. If you trust God with your life, He will prove faithful and He will show His power in your life. Abraham’s wife, Sarah, is a great testimony of this.
2. Sarah would still have to wait until she was 90 years old before she gave birth to a son.
3. Abraham was fully convinced that God was able to do what He had promised. (Romans 4:16-22)
4. She desperately wanted to be a mother; by age 75 she took matters into her own hands. (Gen. 16:1-6)
5. Her plan had two problems: It showed a lack of faith in God’s promise, and it was sinful and wrong for Abraham to have a child with Hagar.
6. Another 13 years past; Sarah did not get pregnant and she still carried the shame of being childless.
7. Abram name meant “exalted father,” now God would name him Abraham “father of a multitude.” (Gen. 17:1-8)
8. God reaffirmed his promise. Sarah will give birth to a son, to be named Isaac (Gen.17:15-19) We must trust God and take him at his word, even when doubt creeps in.
9. God was true to his word. He fulfilled his promise to Abraham and Sarah. (Gen. 21:1-7)
10. Sarah’s plan was sinful and would go on to have devastating consequences to this day as conflict in the middle east. But she later proved to be a woman of faith; Scripture has an overwhelmingly positive view of her.
11. No matter how bad your past is, He can give life to you. Those who are dead in sin can become alive unto God through faith in Jesus Christ.
