Title: Honoring God With Your Mind
Text: Romans 12:1-2
1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies bas a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Big Idea: Rather than being just like the rest of the world, Christians are called to be transformed through God’s power. This process (also called sanctification) happens as they consistently feed their minds with the truth of Scripture and what is pure, holy, and edifying.
Scripture Readings: Leviticus 22:17-22, Isaiah 53:5, 1 Samuel 16:7, 1 John 2:15-17, Colossians 2:8, 1 Peter 5:8, 2 Timothy 2:7, 2 Corinthians 10:5, Psalm 119:18, 1 Thessalonians 4:3
Good Quote: “The Christian doctrine of revelation, far from making the human mind unnecessary, actually makes it indispensable and assigns to it its proper place. God has revealed himself in words to minds. His revelation is a rational revelation to rational creatures. Our duty is to receive his message, to submit to it, to seek to understand it and to relate it to the world in which we live.” (John Stott, Your Mind Matters, p. 20)
